ARTICLES OF FAITH

  1. THE TRINITY: We believe in the triune God as three persons in one essence: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; coequal and eternally existing (Gen. 1:1; John 10:30; Matt. 3:16-17; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14).

  2. THE SON: We believe in the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ; His virgin birth; His substitutionary death for sinners; His bodily resurrection and ascension; His present Lordship and Priesthood; and
    His personal, visible, and pre-millennial return (Matt. 28:19; Matt. 1:18-25; Isaiah 7:14; John 14:9; John 1:1-14; Heb. 2:9; Acts 2:32-36; Heb. 7:25; 1 Thess. 4:16).

  3. THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe in the Deity and personality of the Holy Spirit; His coming at Pentecost to abide in the Church, the body of Christ; His baptism of each believer into the body of Christ; and His indwelling of each true believer (John 15:26; Acts 2:2-4; 1 Cor. 12:13; John 14:16,17).

  4. THE CROSS: We believe that the substitutionary and vicarious death of Christ on the cross provided a perfect propitiation for the sins of the world, and that “through faith in His blood” the value of His redemptive work is credited to the believer (Heb. 2:9; John 3:16-18; Rom. 3:25; 2 Cor. 5:21).

  5. THE SCRIPTURES: We believe that all Scripture is given by verbal inspiration of God, and that it is the only and all-sufficient rule of faith and practice (Psalm 19:7-11; 2 Tim. 3:16,17; 1 Pet. 1:19-21; Matt. 5:17,18).

  6. MAN: We believe that all men are sinful by nature and practice, and are eternally lost, apart from the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:23; Rom. 6:23; 1 John 1:8; Rom. 5:12).

  7. SALVATION: We believe that men are justified through faith in the shed blood of Christ alone, and that those who are justified are also regenerated and made partakers of the divine nature (Heb. 13:12; Heb. 9:22; John 1:12; 2 Pet. 1:4; Rom. 5:1).

  8. SERVICE AND SEPARATION: We believe that the justified and regenerated are called to a
    life of service for God in the maintenance of good works, being given some spiritual gift, and are called also to a life of separation from sinful and worldly practices (Eph. 4:11,12; Matt. 16:24; Rom. 12:1,2;
    2 Cor. 6:15-17
    ; Titus 3:8; 1 Cor. 12:4-11).

  9. RESURRECTION: We believe in the resurrection of the dead, of the righteous to eternal blessedness and of the wicked to eternal torment (Rev. 20:4-6, 11-15; Rev. 22; John 14:1-6; Matt. 25:46; 1 Thess. 4:16).

  10. SATAN: We believe in the personality of Satan, the god of this age, who deceives the whole world, and in whose lap the world lies (Rev. 12:9,10; Isaiah 14:12-17; John 8:44; 1 John 5:19; Job 1:6,7; 2 Cor. 4:4).

  11. BAPTISM: We believe in the ordinance of baptism, in obedience to the commandment of Christ, as the immersion of the believer in water, and as a testimony of his faith in Christ as Savior and of his identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Acts 8:35-39; Rom. 6:1-11; Matt. 28:19).

  12. THE CHURCH: We believe that the true Church consists of those who have been born from above and united to Christ, and who are therefore members of the spiritual body of which the risen Christ is the Head (1 Cor. 12:12,13; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Col. 1:18).

  13. THE GREAT COMMISSION: We believe that the chief business of the Church is to carry out Christ’s commission to evangelize the world and to baptize and teach believers (Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:15;
    Acts 1:8
    ; 2 Cor. 5:18-20).

  14. MARRIAGE: Marriage has been ordained by God.  This church defines “marriage” as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment. A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by the church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of “marriage” found in these Articles (Gen. 2:24; Matt. 19:4-5; 1 Cor. 7:10-11; Eph. 5:21-32).

  15. HUMAN SEXUALITY: Legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual activities outside of marriage, including but not limited to, any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, transgender behavior, bestiality, incest, fornication, premarital sex, adultery, pedophilia and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex and are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the church (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19:5, 13; Lev. 18:1-30; Matt. 19:4-5; Rom. 1:26-32; Rom. 6:9-10; 1 Thess. 4:3-8; 1 Tim. 1:8-11; Heb. 13:4; 1 Peter 2:4-10).
